Costa de Almeria Holidays by World Travellers

Costa de Almeria holidays boast about 320 kilometres of scenic and varied coastline along the Mediterranean Sea, combining busy developed holiday resorts with unspoilt fishing villages, and long sandy beaches with little secluded coves; a holiday to Costa de Almeria is the perfect Spanish location!

The weather is superb, as Almeria boasts one of the driest and sunniest climates in Europe with around 320 days of sunshine. The average temperature is 27º in summer and 15º in winter. This makes Almeria an all-year round holiday destination.

The main resorts  include Adra, Roquetas, Cabo de Gata, Aguadulce, Mojacar and San José. It is a coastline of excellent beaches offering safe holiday conditions for families. Water skiing, windsurfing and sailing are the main sea bourne activities and Cabo de Gata, with its picturesque beach and crystal-clear waters, is particularly popular with scuba divers.

The province of Almeria is rich in fish and seafood dishes, squid, red prawns and red mullet. It also has a strong Arabic/North African influence. Typical dishes from the province include fish chowders and stew (fried bread with garlic and spicy sausages) and lots of grilled fish.

Costa Almeria has the usual array of gift and souvenir shops on the sea front sufficient for most needs. Markets are popular and sell amongst others the traditional baskets, pottery, ceramics and rugs. For more serious shopping Almeria town is only a short distance away.
