Menorca is the second largest island of the Balearics, offering a much quieter, lower-key atmosphere than neighbouring Majorca.
Menorca has more beaches than the rest of the Balearic Islands put together. An unspoilt and calm little island, Menorca is a paradise for those looking for peace, sand and sunshine. Perfect for so many holidaymakers, the island's easy-going spirit, traditional feel and fabulous beaches and coves attract everyone from families to couples.
Many of the beaches in Menorca are ideal for families, with shallow waters for the little ones and soft sand for everyone to relax on. There are a lot of small sandy coves to be discovered around the coasts and many of the beaches are peaceful, even during the summer months. The best beaches can be found at the southern resorts of Cala Galdana, with its beautifully blue water and horseshoe shaped shore; Son Bou, which has the long stretch of brilliant sand and the south-eastern resort of Punta Prima. Mahon and Ciutadella have bars and clubs to dance the night away in.
There’s a casino in Mahon too, where you can have a flutter before wandering around the beautiful harbour and stopping off at the bars and restaurants.
One place definitely worth checking out is Cova d’en Xoroi, in Cala ‘n Porter. This is a bar and club like no other, set inside a cave overlooking the sea, open during the day and into the small hours, this is a party venue you won’t forget.
